Man Dies Days Before Wedding After Alleged Mob Attack in Lagos

A man identified simply as Basit, who had reportedly returned to Nigeria from abroad ahead of his wedding, has died following an alleged mob attack in the Lagos Island area of Lagos State.

The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday, September 2, in the Patey area of Lagos Island.

According to eyewitness accounts, Basit was allegedly driving when his vehicle struck a man who was attempting to cross the road. Rather than stopping at the scene, he was said to have driven away, prompting some residents to pursue him.

The residents reportedly caught up with him and allegedly attacked him, leaving him with severe injuries to the head. He was said to have been left unconscious before eventually passing away.

Basit was reportedly making preparations for his wedding, which was scheduled to take place later this month, making the incident particularly tragic for his family and loved ones.
